How to Get Your MAZDA Vehicle Ready for Winter
Mazda service is important all year round, as it keeps your vehicle safe, efficient, and comfortable on the open road. In the winter, there are even more obstacles to account for, and routine service can be even more essential to the health of your vehicle. Visit Route 9 Mazda to learn about the best ways to prepare your vehicle for winter driving.
Get an Oil Change
The oil in your vehicle cools and lubricates the engine to prevent overheating and damage. It also collects dirt and debris from the surface of the road, so it doesn’t damage the engine. In the winter, there can be a lot of debris, including salt and broken asphalt. Fresh oil can help you to drive safely through the winter, and winter is the perfect time to switch to synthetic oil, which is designed to withstand colder temperatures.
Check Your Battery
In temperatures below freezing, your battery can lose up to 50% of its capacity. That means a higher risk of losing power and getting stranded. It’s important to get your battery inspected before the cold season starts, so you can replace it, if necessary.
Change Your Tires
Some drivers make the switch to winter tires, which can provide better control on winter roads. Regardless of whether you switch, you still want to get your tires inspected for tread and pressure. Proper tread pressure means better surface contact, and pressure can change in cold temperatures, and should be checked often.

From finding your next great pre-owned Mazda car to taking it for a test drive, shopping for a used car is always exciting. But before you drive home, you need to know the most important information. Don’t forget to ask these questions when you visit us at Route 9 Mazda to find the right car for you.
Is It Still Under Warranty?
Some pre-owned Mazda cars are still covered by their original manufacturer’s warranty, so ask your dealer if it is included. If you’re looking for a car that is still covered, look at recent models, especially former rental and previously leased vehicles. You can also explore our Certified Pre-Owned Mazda vehicles, which come with a unique warranty plan with premium coverage.
How Will This Affect My Insurance?
If you’re upgrading from a much older car to a pre-owned Mazda vehicle, you can expect your insurance premiums to go up. You’ll need to factor in your higher payments, so ask your dealer before you commit. However, a used car will probably cause less of a balloon in your payments than a new one.
Are There Other Models on the Lot?
When you’re buying a new car you can choose your trims, features, and more, but used car shopping is more restrictive. If you like a used car but want different features, ask the dealer if there are any other vehicles of the same model on the lot. Even if the same model isn’t available, there may be a similar car with features that fit your needs better.

The right Mazda service can keep your vehicle driving safely and efficiently for a long time to come. That’s why our expert team at Route 9 Mazda provides the quality service you can count on. It’s also why we’re sharing top tips to help you protect your vehicle between service appointments, including how to jump-start your car battery.
Position the Vehicles Close
Align the working battery vehicle close to the front end of your vehicle, but make sure they aren’t touching. Turn both vehicles off and open the hoods. Locate the battery terminals on both.
Connect the Red Cables
Start by connecting the positive cables, which are the red cables. First, connect the red cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery. Then connect the red cable to the positive terminal of the donor car.
Connect the Black Cables
Connect the black, or negative, cables in the opposite order. Connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the donor vehicle. Then find an unpainted piece of metal on the vehicle with the dead battery and connect the second black cable. This can be part of the frame or engine block.
Run the Vehicles
Start the vehicle with the working battery and let it run for a few minutes to send enough power to the dead battery. Try to start your vehicle; if it doesn’t start, let it charge for a few more minutes. If it still doesn’t work, you may need battery or alternator service. If it starts, keep it running for at least 15 minutes (including driving).
Remove the Cables
Finally, disconnect the cables in the reverse order from which you attached them. Start with negative and then positive clamps, then carefully store your jumper cables away. Even if the jump worked, you’ll still want to schedule battery service in the future.

2025 MAZDA3 Sedan vs. Hatchback
The 2025 Mazda3 is sporty and compact and designed to meet all your daily driving needs — and it comes in two unique body styles. To find the perfect 2025 Mazda3 for the road ahead, you’ll want to pick between the 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and the 2025 Mazda3 Sedan. Compare model options with the experts at Route 9 Mazda.
Configurations
The primary difference between the 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and Sedan is the body configuration. The hatchback has a rear liftgate, which means you’ll have access to more cargo space and the ability to fold the seats down. On the other hand, the sedan is more compact and provides the option of a three-box design, which can offer peace of mind if you’re storing valuable materials.
Space for Passengers and Cargo
One thing you want to consider when deciding between the 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and Mazda3 Sedan is space. Both models come with seating for five passengers, and in the sedan, you’ll find 13.2 cubic feet of cargo space. The more spacious hatchback comes with 47.1 cubic feet of cargo space when the back seats are folded and 20.1 cubic feet of cargo space when they’re in use.
Standard Features and Options
The choice between a 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and a 2025 Mazda3 Sedan is personal, but no matter which option you choose, you’re sure to enjoy a comfortable, safe, and capable vehicle. They come with two engine options, including a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 2.5-liter turbo engine, and produce up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Both model configurations come in the choice of nine exterior colors, including the iconic Soul Red Crystal Metallic.

There are many benefits to taking out a Mazda lease when the time comes for a new vehicle. You’ll have access to the newest models on the market, plus you’ll save on the down payment and monthly payments. When you lease a vehicle, you will need to be mindful of how many miles you go, but Route 9 Mazda has your top tips for not going over the mileage limit.
Negotiate High
When the time comes to sign your lease, you want to make sure you’re planning ahead. Mileage is a negotiable option for many lease contracts, and it’s better to sign for too many miles than for not enough. When you go over your lease mileage, you may end up with significant costs, and many leases allow for mileage buy-back programs if you have miles left over at the end of your term.
Keep Close Records
It’s easy to cover the miles in a new Mazda vehicle and not even realize it. If you’re worried about bumping up against your lease limit, it’s especially important to track your miles. Pay attention to the odometer, plan out trips intentionally, and make note of when you hit certain milestones. This will help to prevent the mileage from being a surprise when the lease ends.
Drive Intentionally
It’s a good idea to consider your route for many reasons. Different driving conditions can affect different parts and systems, so planning your path can help to protect your vehicle. It can also help to ensure you don’t put on any more miles than necessary, so you don’t have to worry about going over your limit.

MAZDA Service Tips: How to Change a Flat Tire
A little Mazda service can go a long way when it comes to keeping your vehicle safe, but it’s just as important to know how to care for your car between appointments. Route 9 Mazda has you covered. Learn how to change a flat tire on the go with help from our team.
Get to Safety
If you notice something is wrong with one of your tires, or if you experience a blowout, pull over right away. Get your vehicle to a safe, level spot on the shoulder, if possible, and put your hazards on to warn other drivers that there is an obstacle. You also want to engage the parking brake and secure the other tires with wheel wedges, if you have them.
Loosen the Lug Nuts
First, retrieve your jack, spare tire, and tire iron or lug wrench from your trunk or cargo area.
To loosen the lug nuts, you may first need to remove a hubcap or wheel cover. Then you’ll want to loosen — but not remove — the lug nuts. Break the resistance and turn them about ¼ to ½ of the way before moving on to the next step.
Raise the Vehicle
Next, you’ll need to raise the vehicle using the available jack. Make sure to place the jack under the vehicle’s frame and near the damaged tire. Raise the vehicle off the ground about six inches and then finish unscrewing the lug nuts.
Replace the Tire
Once the lug nuts have been removed, you can replace the damaged tire with the spare. Line the new tire up with the bolts and situate. Put the lug nuts on in a star formation and tighten them by hand.
Lower the Vehicle
Finally, you’ll want to lower the vehicle back to the ground, just until the tire is touching. Tighten the lug nuts using your wrench, making sure they are fully secure but not too tight. Lower your vehicle the rest of the way, return your tools and flat tire, and drive to our Mazda Service Center as soon as possible. If your spare is a “donut,” you should drive no more than 50 miles before getting your replacement.
