The right Mazda service can keep your vehicle driving safely and efficiently for a long time to come. That’s why our expert team at Route 9 Mazda provides the quality service you can count on. It’s also why we’re sharing top tips to help you protect your vehicle between service appointments, including how to jump-start your car battery.
Position the Vehicles Close
Align the working battery vehicle close to the front end of your vehicle, but make sure they aren’t touching. Turn both vehicles off and open the hoods. Locate the battery terminals on both.
Connect the Red Cables
Start by connecting the positive cables, which are the red cables. First, connect the red cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery. Then connect the red cable to the positive terminal of the donor car.
Connect the Black Cables
Connect the black, or negative, cables in the opposite order. Connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the donor vehicle. Then find an unpainted piece of metal on the vehicle with the dead battery and connect the second black cable. This can be part of the frame or engine block.
Run the Vehicles
Start the vehicle with the working battery and let it run for a few minutes to send enough power to the dead battery. Try to start your vehicle; if it doesn’t start, let it charge for a few more minutes. If it still doesn’t work, you may need battery or alternator service. If it starts, keep it running for at least 15 minutes (including driving).
Remove the Cables
Finally, disconnect the cables in the reverse order from which you attached them. Start with negative and then positive clamps, then carefully store your jumper cables away. Even if the jump worked, you’ll still want to schedule battery service in the future.

2025 MAZDA3 Sedan vs. Hatchback
The 2025 Mazda3 is sporty and compact and designed to meet all your daily driving needs — and it comes in two unique body styles. To find the perfect 2025 Mazda3 for the road ahead, you’ll want to pick between the 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and the 2025 Mazda3 Sedan. Compare model options with the experts at Route 9 Mazda.
Configurations
The primary difference between the 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and Sedan is the body configuration. The hatchback has a rear liftgate, which means you’ll have access to more cargo space and the ability to fold the seats down. On the other hand, the sedan is more compact and provides the option of a three-box design, which can offer peace of mind if you’re storing valuable materials.
Space for Passengers and Cargo
One thing you want to consider when deciding between the 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and Mazda3 Sedan is space. Both models come with seating for five passengers, and in the sedan, you’ll find 13.2 cubic feet of cargo space. The more spacious hatchback comes with 47.1 cubic feet of cargo space when the back seats are folded and 20.1 cubic feet of cargo space when they’re in use.
Standard Features and Options
The choice between a 2025 Mazda3 Hatchback and a 2025 Mazda3 Sedan is personal, but no matter which option you choose, you’re sure to enjoy a comfortable, safe, and capable vehicle. They come with two engine options, including a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 2.5-liter turbo engine, and produce up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Both model configurations come in the choice of nine exterior colors, including the iconic Soul Red Crystal Metallic.

There are many benefits to taking out a Mazda lease when the time comes for a new vehicle. You’ll have access to the newest models on the market, plus you’ll save on the down payment and monthly payments. When you lease a vehicle, you will need to be mindful of how many miles you go, but Route 9 Mazda has your top tips for not going over the mileage limit.
Negotiate High
When the time comes to sign your lease, you want to make sure you’re planning ahead. Mileage is a negotiable option for many lease contracts, and it’s better to sign for too many miles than for not enough. When you go over your lease mileage, you may end up with significant costs, and many leases allow for mileage buy-back programs if you have miles left over at the end of your term.
Keep Close Records
It’s easy to cover the miles in a new Mazda vehicle and not even realize it. If you’re worried about bumping up against your lease limit, it’s especially important to track your miles. Pay attention to the odometer, plan out trips intentionally, and make note of when you hit certain milestones. This will help to prevent the mileage from being a surprise when the lease ends.
Drive Intentionally
It’s a good idea to consider your route for many reasons. Different driving conditions can affect different parts and systems, so planning your path can help to protect your vehicle. It can also help to ensure you don’t put on any more miles than necessary, so you don’t have to worry about going over your limit.

MAZDA Service Tips: How to Change a Flat Tire
A little Mazda service can go a long way when it comes to keeping your vehicle safe, but it’s just as important to know how to care for your car between appointments. Route 9 Mazda has you covered. Learn how to change a flat tire on the go with help from our team.
Get to Safety
If you notice something is wrong with one of your tires, or if you experience a blowout, pull over right away. Get your vehicle to a safe, level spot on the shoulder, if possible, and put your hazards on to warn other drivers that there is an obstacle. You also want to engage the parking brake and secure the other tires with wheel wedges, if you have them.
Loosen the Lug Nuts
First, retrieve your jack, spare tire, and tire iron or lug wrench from your trunk or cargo area.
To loosen the lug nuts, you may first need to remove a hubcap or wheel cover. Then you’ll want to loosen — but not remove — the lug nuts. Break the resistance and turn them about ¼ to ½ of the way before moving on to the next step.
Raise the Vehicle
Next, you’ll need to raise the vehicle using the available jack. Make sure to place the jack under the vehicle’s frame and near the damaged tire. Raise the vehicle off the ground about six inches and then finish unscrewing the lug nuts.
Replace the Tire
Once the lug nuts have been removed, you can replace the damaged tire with the spare. Line the new tire up with the bolts and situate. Put the lug nuts on in a star formation and tighten them by hand.
Lower the Vehicle
Finally, you’ll want to lower the vehicle back to the ground, just until the tire is touching. Tighten the lug nuts using your wrench, making sure they are fully secure but not too tight. Lower your vehicle the rest of the way, return your tools and flat tire, and drive to our Mazda Service Center as soon as possible. If your spare is a “donut,” you should drive no more than 50 miles before getting your replacement.

Why is Car Service Important?
Service is one of the most important steps you can take to keep your vehicle safe. It helps to maintain vehicle responsiveness on the road and reduces the need for costly repairs. It also keeps your vehicle efficient, which means savings on fuel, and maintains the vehicle’s value if you plan to sell or trade-in your car down the line.
What Service Tasks Should I Schedule?
You always want to check your vehicle manual before scheduling service, so you know what kind of care your car needs. Common service tasks include oil changes, tire rotations, fluid fill-ups, and brake pad replacements. Your vehicle may also need different types of service for different seasons, to better protect against the environment and driving conditions.
What Are the Signs I Need Service?
In addition to scheduling regular service, it’s useful to be able to recognize signs that your car needs care. Here are just a few:
- You smell or hear something usual
- It pulls to one side
- It vibrates at idle
- The fuel economy drops significantly
- The emissions are thick or dark

MAZDA Certified Pre-Owned vs Pre-Owned Cars
There are many reasons to consider Mazda Certified Pre-Owned models when the time comes for the next vehicle. Like pre-owned models, they’ll help you save on the down payment and monthly payments, but they also come with other perks and benefits you just won’t find anywhere else. Learn about Mazda Certified Pre-Owned vehicles and take the first test drive at Route 9 Mazda today.
Age and Mileage Requirements
When you purchase a pre-owned vehicle, you’ll save on the initial costs like the down payment and in-between costs like sales tax and insurance. Pre-owned vehicles also have a lower rate of depreciation (value loss of the vehicle). With Mazda Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, you’ll have those benefits, as well as peace of mind. To qualify as Mazda Certified Pre-Owned, a vehicle must be six years old or newer and must have less than 80,000 miles, which means you’ll enjoy a practically new model, without the cost.
Inspections and Updates
In addition to age, Mazda Certified Pre-Owned models have to meet strict inspection requirements, which are not required for pre-owned models. For Mazda Certified Pre-Owned, that includes a 160-point inspection. Parts are repaired or replaced during the inspection, as necessary, and models with excess wear or damage don’t qualify.
Benefits and Protections
When you purchase a Mazda Certified Pre-Owned model, you also get access to perks and benefits you don’t have with pre-owned vehicles. Mazda Certified Pre-Owned vehicles come with a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty, and you’ll have a zero-dollar deductible on covered repairs. You’ll also be protected by 24-hour emergency roadside assistance, and you’ll have access to an AutoCheck® vehicle history report before you buy.

MAZDA Financing Tips: How to Raise Your Credit Score
At Route 9 Mazda, we believe the Mazda financing process doesn’t have to be overwhelming. That’s why we provide the tools and resources to help you at every stage of the vehicle purchasing process, and why we’re sharing everything you need to know about picking out the right car at the right price. Learn how you can raise your credit score before submitting a finance application, with support from our expert team.
Pay Down Your Debt
Your credit score is one of the most important factors to consider when it comes to Mazda financing. It tells lenders how reliable you are to lend money to, which is why drivers with higher credit scores tend to have more favorable terms available to them. One of the most effective ways to raise your credit score is simply by paying down your debt. A good rule of thumb is to keep your debt usage below 30%, to keep your score high.
Pay Your Bills On Time
Another important factor that determines your credit score is your history of repayment. That’s why it’s such a good idea to pay your bills regularly, and more than the minimum payment, if you are able. When you go a long time without missing a payment, it reflects well on your financial history and boosts your score.
Ask for a Credit Line Increase
If you aren’t able to pay your debt down right away, another way to get closer to the 30% usage is by asking for a credit line increase. This reduces the amount of the credit you’re using, without requiring big upfront costs. You must keep your usage the same, even if the credit line is increased.
